Assessment of Carbonfact’s Capabilities
Within the capability assessment presented in the report, Carbonfact is scored across eight criteria. According to the publication, Carbonfact demonstrates market-leading performance in:
- External data integration and exchange
- Internal and external reporting
Carbonfact is also evaluated as having strong functionality, the second-highest assessment level, in:
- Data quality control and validation
- Impact assessment and calculation,
- Product, system and supply chain modelling,
- Analytics, hotspot identification and forecasting,
- Scenario modeling.
These scores reflect the report’s focus on how vendors support scalable LCA processes, supplier data integration, and structured environmental reporting.

Citing Carbonfact’s point of view on the results, CEO Marc Laurent states:
“I’m proud of Carbonfact’s performance in the assessment. We are the only apparel- and footwear-focused vendor included in the report, and the findings align with our commitment to data quality, granularity and automation for this industry. Brands consistently tell us that preparing and validating data is the most time-intensive part of LCA work. Carbonfact is designed to do that heavy lifting so teams can move more quickly from raw, imperfect data to actionable decarbonization strategies – built on accurate and defendable information.”
The research further highlights that organizations are increasingly investing in LCA software to meet growing regulatory requirements, support ecodesign decisions and respond to stakeholder expectations for transparency. According to the report, 58% surveyed firms already use software to conduct LCAs, with many expecting to increase spending in 2026.
The Growing Importance of Scalable LCA Workflows
The report notes that conducting LCAs manually can be time- and resource-intensive. For example, the publication states that cradle-to-grave LCAs “can require six to 18 months and between $30,000 and $100,000 to execute.”
The study also highlights challenges related to data quality and availability. Citing research in the Sustainable Production and Consumption journal, Verdantix notes that “up to 73% of respondents are highly concerned about data quality.”
