Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be a Carbonfact customer to use this?

No. Browsing the directory and requesting data is free and open to any brand. If you are a Carbonfact customer, shared data additionally flows straight into your LCAs, carbon accounting, and eco-design simulations, with no manual upload.

Can I see a material's footprint directly on its page?

It depends on the supplier. Some publish their impact data openly, others release it on request. Every entry states which applies, and requesting access takes one click.

What happens after I request data?

The supplier is notified with your brand name and the reason for your request, and decides whether to grant access. Once approved, you see the verified impact indicators, system boundaries, and functional units on the material page. The underlying LCA document itself is not shared.

Who checks the data?

Every LCA is reviewed by Carbonfact's Science team against ISO 14040/44 and PEFCR before publication. There is no paid placement anywhere in the directory: position can't be bought, only earned with data.

Can I reuse the data in my own reports and tools?

Shared data can be used for your internal footprint calculations, LCAs, and reports. It remains the supplier's intellectual property, so extracting or redistributing it outside the platform requires the supplier's consent.

A supplier I work with isn't listed. What now?

Suggest them through the directory or introduce them by email with suppliers@carbonfact.com in cc. Our Science team walks them through the review, at no cost to them or you.
