Carbon Accounting has always been a time-consuming task, in part because its data arrives in as many formats as you have departments. That’s why we’re proud to announce Carbonfact’s AI-enabled guided flow, including the ability to upload data in PDF format, next to CSV and Excel.

Guided flows with AI Copilot
Guided flows give each data type a structured way in: you upload your files, AI copilot scans them, builds a visible step plan, and asks only the questions it can’t answer from the files themselves. With this release, site locations, freight and energy data now have their own tailored ingestion flows. In the next few weeks, we’ll be expanding this to all corporate scopes.
The flows are built to make your inventory exhaustive, not just easier to enter. The site locations flow starts from the location types you should account for – offices, warehouses, retail stores – so none are forgotten. For a new reporting year, it picks up last year’s sites, and you mark what opened or closed. The energy flow does the same for energy sources, so a site’s gas heating doesn’t slip through because only the electricity bill was at hand.
Upload PDFs directly, including energy bills
Much of your corporate data doesn’t live in spreadsheets. Energy bills usually arrive as PDFs – and you can now upload them directly, alongside CSV and Excel. The extraction reads the document into structured data, and anything it can’t read reliably is flagged for your review.
Why this matters
Corporate carbon accounting stands or falls on how data enters the system. A defensible Scope 1, 2, and 3 inventory needs every site, every energy source, and every freight leg accounted for – consistently, and with a trail an auditor can follow. Guided flows make that exhaustiveness the default rather than a checklist you maintain yourself. PDF ingestion brings in the documents your data actually lives in, so you don’t need to worry about converting these to .CSVs yourself. The less time spent on data administration, the more time left for decarbonization planning.
Within weeks, all corporate scopes will benefit from this new, AI-enabled workflow.
